What is an TENS - Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation?
TENS works by intercepting and blocking pain messages sent to the brain which gives the patient pain relief. The electrodes from TENS creates a vibrating feeling in the tissue which masks the pain and gives the individual a chance to carry on with their normal life free from pain. The unit is small and portable and an effective alternative to pain medication. TENS is often used to treat pain that is chronic like arthritic pain, lower back pain, labour pain and phantom pain.
