What are Temporary Insoles?
Temporary Insoles or Orthotics are off-the shelf orthopaedic insoles which may be recommended by one of our Biomechanical Specialists to test a person’s suitability for custom made orthotics.
What We Offer
As part of our Biomechanics & Orthotics service, we regularly use temporary orthotics to get the exact prescription and level of correction that works for you.
It is very easy to alter a temporary insole to get the prescription “just right” prior to the expense of a custom made and in some cases the custom made may not be needed following a period of wearing the temporary one.We know that orthotics and insoles are expensive so our physiotherapists will not prescribe them unless it is absolutely necessary. Orthotics prices range from €45 – €450.
In most cases a temporary insole is used for 4 to 6 weeks to prepare the body for the custom made orthotic and also to alleviate symptoms while the body is rehabilitating. In severe cases it is also used to relieve pain while awaiting the custom made version.
Our Physiotherapist will also prescribe stretches and exercises while using temporary insoles in order to maximise the bodies potential before prescribing custom made orthotics, to ensure that minimum correction is needed.
